New Delhi: Aadhaar linking with Universal Account Number (UAN) issued by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is not mandatory, however, the persons who have linked Aadhaar card with UAN are able to initiate claims settlements smoothly. With the help of UAN, all the employees are allowed to transfer funds from within EPF account, EPF account to bank account subject to the eligibility. Employees can transfer funds from the EPF account only after validating it and activating it by providing relevant documents for KYC.
Aadhaar card is one of the documents which is required to complete the KYC process to activate the UAN. Meanwhile, an individual can update the personal details in the Aadhaar card via online and offline modes. According to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), with the online facility to update the Aadhaar card, an individual can only update or correct the respective address on the Aadhaar card if one has a validated and mobile number with Aadhaar card which is functioning. Whereas, details such as the name of the person, date of birth, mobile number, email id and gender on the Aadhaar card, can be updated by visit Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
How to link UAN with Aadhaar card online using mobile/email based OTP mode
Step 1: Visit the EPFO e-KYC portal: https://iwu.epfindia.gov.in/eKYC/
Step 2: Click on ‘Link UAN Aadhaar’.
Step 3: Enter UAN and click on ‘Generate OTP’, OTP will be sent to UAN registered mobile number.
Step 4: Fill the OTP in front of ‘Confirm OTP’.
Step 5: Enter Aadhaar number, select Aadhaar verification mode between ‘mobile/email based OTP’ and ‘biometric details’.
Step 6: Enter captcha and click on submit.
Step 7: User will receive another OTP if the ‘mobile/email based OTP’ mode was selected for Aadhaar verification.
Step 8: Upon the successful verification of the Aadhaar card, the respective Aadhaar card will get linked with the UAN.
