When the first trailer of Ayushmann Khurranas Badhaai Ho dropped it had got everyone excited and had garnered immense critical acclaim. The movie was bound to open on a good note and everyone expected it to be a fun fair. But what many didn’t expect was that the movie will still make money at the box office even after the release of Thugs of Hindostan. But since Thugs of Hindostan failed, Badhaai Ho which was nearing its run got a new lease of life.
And now despite being in its sixth week, Badhaai Ho refuses to slow down. The movie which was expected to fold its run at Rs 115 crore has now made more than Rs 132 crore and is heading for Rs 140 crore lifetime business. But takes the cake is the fact that the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer has now even beaten the biggest Indian blockbuster ever, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at the box office. The sixth weekend earning of Badhaai Ho is Rs 3.95 crore which is now an all-time record. The earlier record holder for weekend six was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) which had made Rs 3.35 crore.
With Rs 132.35 crore in its kitty, Badhaai Ho is now the sixth highest grossing film of 2018 beating Stree and possibly the biggest success story of the year.
Not just that, another Ayushmann Khurrana film AndhaDhun, which recently completed a 50-day run at the box office has also equalled another Baahubali 2: The Conclusion record. In its eighth weekend, AndhaDhun made Rs 80 lakhs, which is in the same range as the eighth weekend business of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi).
